Support Mentor - Carberry, MB
Support Mentor
Location: Carberry, MB
The Support Mentor is a key part of fostering positive, long-term change for families connected with Child and Family Services and healing from addiction. This position involves providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive mentorship to promote healing and reunification for female caregivers and their children.
The Support Mentor works with Mentors in helping support children with activities while the adults are going through programming for parts of the day, and also lead activities that can range from meal planning and cooking, to fitness, to helping participants secure documentation. In this role you enable the female care givers to give care, not replace them.
We are looking for people with skills and experience in personal finance, fitness, tutoring, early childhood education, parenting and nutrition who can bring different aspects to the role in our personalized approach to healing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with mentors and counselors to implement tailored programs for families
- Lead activities with participants and children individually and as a group centered around practical life skills or attachment activities to bond families back together
- Provide feedback to mentor and team on issues and progress for record keeping
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in trauma-informed care
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Competencies
- Post secondary diploma or degree with a variety of experiences considered
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and compassion in supporting families
- Strong problem-solving and crisis intervention skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Experience working with families in crisis an asset
- Current training in trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care practices an asset
- Skills in culinary, finance, personal development, education and child development an asset

- Criminal background, child abuse registry, and vulnerable persons background checks
- Drivers license abstract and
- Casual, part and full time opportunities available
- Day, Evening and Overnight shits possible
- Hourly rates $18+ depending on experience

Night Support Mentors - Carberry, MB
Night Support Mentors
Location: Carberry, MB
The Night Support Mentor helps create positive, long-term change for families connected with Child and Family Services and healing from addiction.
The Night Support Mentor enables the Mentor and Support Mentors to deliver programming during waking hours while maintaining a safe environment overnight while the families sleep. This involves monitoring the facilities and being ready to support emergencies with knowledge of first aid and de-escalation tactics. The role can assist in procurement of materials, reporting and facility maintenance reporting. In this role you enable the female care givers to give care, not replace them.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring facilities
- Supporting families in crisis if called upon and requesting assistance if needed
- Record feedback on challenges and progress
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Competencies
- Experience working with families in crisis an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and compassion in supporting families
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Indigenous cultural and historical knowledge and experience an asset
- Current training in violence prevention, trauma-informed and cultural sensitivity an asset

The Mentor is a leader fostering positive, long-term change for families connected with Child and Family Services and healing from addiction. This position involves providing culturally sensitive programming that helps participants understand and deal with their trauma and find a way to escape it.
The Mentor leads adult programming and works with Support Mentors to develop and lead activities that can range from meal planning and cooking, to fitness, to helping participants secure documentation. In this role you enable the female care givers to give care, not replace them. This role works with support mentors to create activities
This role develops personal goals and plans with the participants and reports back on challenges and progress to the Program Lead.
Duties and Responsibilities
